Measurements of each window
Measuring your windows is quite possibly to single most important
element in purchasing your window treatments. It is also the factor
where errors are most often made. Here are some key elements to help
you get the correct measurements of your windows.
1. You should have decided the kind of treatment that you want
to apply to the window.
2. Always use a steel tape measure and your measurements to the
nearest eigth inch.
3. Is it going to be mounted inside or outside?
4. If is going to be outside measure the width in three places
(Top, Middle and Bottom) and use the largest measurement.
5. If it is to be an inside mount, first measure the depth (To
the nearest obstacle – cranks, window locks, security devices
and so on). Then make sure that the product that you want for this
window
is capable of fitting in that area without hitting these obstacles.
6. Again, measure in three places (Top Middle and Bottom) except
this time, use the smallest measurement.
7. If the treatment is being applied to a slider, pay attention
to which way the door opens and if door handles, heat runs or cabinets
may cause potential issues in operation.
8. Strategically place the controls of your treatments in order
to avoid furniture, allowing for easy access.
9. Never assume that all the windows in a room are the same size.
You’ll most likely regret it. |
