INTRODUCTION TO WINDOW COVERINGS
Can I do it myself?
Do it yourself, or work with a professional? That's the question!
The question is, what things are you thinking about doing on your
own? You probably don’t want to pick the cotton or weave the
fabrics. You may not want to sew them. You for sure do not want to
install three layers of draperies to your window wall. If you are
thinking about fabrics and draperies, you probably don’t want
to make all the design decisions without input.
On the other hand, if you are thinking of simple, low cost window
coverings such as metal blinds or ready-made curtains, possibly you
can handle the task alone.
There are many ways to cover a window. Most are functional –
allowing privacy and light control. But not all window coverings are
decorative – that is, they may not enhance the beauty of your
home. Sometimes we don’t think of the ornamental, intangible
value of window coverings... sometimes the budget won’t allow
it. But whatever the investment at your window, it is an opportunity
for beauty, a chance to bring happiness to family members and recognition
from friends and neighbors.
Consider all the aspects. Then decide if you want to do it yourself,
or bring in a professional to help. |
