Budget Considerations
Budget Considerations
So you have Carte Blanche to do what you want, right? Well, for most,
that’s not the case—decorating is an ongoing project.
So just how does one come up with a budget? Well here’s a way
to achieve some realistic numbers.
First, break your home into all the rooms/areas that you’d
like to tackle. Second, within each room, list all the projects you’d
like to do, and don’t worry that you can’t do everything
at once. List EVERYTHING, whether or not you can afford it right
now or not. Having a plan is key, and will enable you to see your
project more clearly. Next you’ll need to prioritize all your
tasks in some fashion—mark them as high, medium and low. You
might choose to address privacy issues first, and then choose which
rooms need the most attention.
Now that you have your list, it’s time to do your homework.
You’ll be able to discover a range of prices by visiting retailers,
calling local professionals and searching on the Internet. For many
projects, window treatment specialist can be your best ally—they’ll
be able to work within your budget and eliminate costly mistakes.
Once you know the price ranges, you can determine where your comfort
level lies. Budgets shouldn’t be considered rigid, as you may
find something is worth adding, and in other areas you can compromise.
One thing to consider though, once you have an estimate, ALWAYS factor
in the unexpected. Projects tend to cost more than you expect, so
the best insurance is to plan for those surprises. |
