Color Confidence
Decorating your home is one of lifes most expressive experiences.
How many times have you heard someone say, "thats all right,
but its not me!"? We all have our likes and our dislikes based
on how we feel about things around us.
One of the factors that causes us to feel the way we do is color.
Color creates a difference sensation in all of us. The same color
that can mesmerize you, can be a complete turn off for someone else.
Remember, there is no such thing as bad color, only bad combinations
of colors and personal dislikes for certain colors. Color is like
seasoning to a fine meal - it adds spice to your life!
Here are a few tips on working with color:
- Limit yourself to two or three colors. Fill them in with neutrals.
- Choose colors for the largest areas of your room first.
- Color-connect adjoining rooms.
- For a more spacious feeling select lighter color shades.
- Bright, strong colors create a warm, cozy feeling.
- Emphasize desirable architectural details with strong colors.
- Camouflage undesirable architectural defects with neutrals.
When creating a new color scheme in your home consider adding one
exciting finishing touch---a splash of unexpected color! Bring in
a floral arrangement, or a colorful pillow. It will give you new color
scheme a dramatic punch! |
